SFA offers numerous opportunities for research, creative and scholarly activities that expand educational experiences for undergraduate and graduate students. To enhance instruction and maintain cutting-edge knowledge of advances in their fields, faculty across campus are actively involved in internally and externally funded projects and strive to include students in these activities. Funding for active projects currently totals more than $30 million. There are recognized centers and laboratories at SFA that provide the facilities and specialized research equipment needed to enhance the learning experience. In addition to opportunities for involvement in funded projects, undergraduate and graduate students participate in structured research and creative projects that are integrated into program curricula, as well as faculty-led extracurricular projects. Participation in these activities can lead to student recognition through formal poster or paper presentations at local, state and national conferences and opportunities to co-author peer-reviewed journal articles. Each spring, SFA showcases student and faculty research with campus-wide conferences. These unique experiences enhance the personalized learning that SFA offers and provide the higher-order thinking skills needed for success in the classroom and after graduation.
