Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Located at Wuhan, central China, is a key national university. It was founded on May 26, 2000 as a result of the merger of the former Huazhong University of Science and Technology (founded in 1953), Tongji Medical University (founded in 1907) and Wuhan Urban Construction Institute (founded in 1952). It has gained a rapid development among China universities in the past 60 years and is regarded as one of the top 10 national universities. It is also ranked among the top 400 in the world according to Academic Ranking of World Universities – 2013. HUST has 40 academic schools and departments offering a variety of degree programs including 94 undergraduate programs, 214 master programs, 175 doctoral programs, of which 4 undergraduate programs, 81 master’s and 87 doctoral programs can be taught in English. HUST, is located at the foot of Yujia Mountain beside the East Lake, and covers an area of more than 1,153 acres with picturesque views, elegant surroundings and a 72% greenery coverage, which has been honored as the “University in the Forest”.
