Welcome to Leeds, one of England's great cities. Leeds is situated in the county of Yorkshire in the north of England. The city has a population of almost 500,000, making it the fourth largest city in England. Leeds has three universities and is hugely popular with international students, so it is the perfect place to study abroad.
GETTING TO LEEDS
Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBA) is situated 7 miles north-west of the city centre and there are daily domestic, European and some international flights. There is a regular bus service from the airport into the city centre, or you can call one of the local taxi companies. If you are travelling by bus or train, Leeds City Bus Station and New Street Train Station are located in the city centre. (TIP: Another option is to fly to Manchester Airport (MAN) and connect to Leeds by bus or train.)
GETTING AROUND LEEDS
Public transport in Leeds is very good. Most of the city and surrounding area is serviced by an extensive bus service. The main providers are Arriva Yorkshire and First Group. Leeds also has a fairly extensive train network. All public transport options are inexpensive, however, many students walk or cycle.

THINGS TO DO IN LEEDS
Leeds has a number of attractions to keep you busy. Spend a few hours in the Royal Armouries Museum or the Leeds Art Gallery, see a concert at the O2 Academy or enjoy a show at the Grand Theatre. If you are a sports fan there is 'Championship football' at Elland Road, and rugby league at Headingley. For the more energetic, enjoy a run or a cycle in one of the city's many parks, or along the Leeds to Liverpool canal.
SHOPPING IN LEEDS
Leeds is regarded as the best shopping destination in the north of England. Most of the city centre is pedestranised, and many of the stores are housed in beautiful Victorian and Edwardian buildings. There are a number of shopping malls including the Queens Arcade, the St John's Shopping Centre and the soon to open Trinity Shopping Centre. For more expensive stores, try The Victoria Quarter where you will find Harvey Nichols, Paul Smith and Vivienne Westwood. We recommend shopping at the Kirkgate Market, where you will find hundreds of traders under one roof.
