Welcome to Durham, one of England's smallest university cities. Durham is situated in the north-east of England and lies on the River Wear. Durham is best known for its ancient university and beautiful Cathedral.
HOW TO GET TO DURHAM
If flying to England, the closest airport is Newcastle Airport (NCL), which is 25 miles north of Durham and welcomes daily domestic, European and some international flights. There are frequent buses and trains connecting Newcastle to Durham. If you are travelling by bus or train, both Durham bus and train stations are located in the city centre.
GETTING AROUND DURHAM
Durham is a compact city, and buses are the only form of public transport. There are local trains to and from Durham Train Station from the surrounding towns. Durham is a very walkable city, so many students walk or cycle, but if you are returning home late at night, we recommend using one of the local taxi companies.
