Welcome to Valancia, home of the famous Spanish dish 'Paella'. Valencia is situated on the east coast of Spain, and has a population of almost 900,000, making it the third largest city in Spain. The city is well-known for its busy port, its oranges and its football team. Whether you are here for a short break, or to study for a year, you will never get bored.
GETTING TO VALENCIA
Valencia Airport (VLC) is located 6 miles west of the city centre, and there are daily domestic and European flights. There are regular bus and metro services to and from the city centre, or you can call one of the local taxi companies. If you are travelling by train or bus, both Estació del Nord Train Station and Valencia Bus Station are located in the city centre.
GETTING AROUND VALENCIA
Public transport in Valencia is very good. Both the Metro, which operates 5 lines, and the bus network, service the whole city including the suburbs. Tickets are inexpensive and there is a range of ticket options available. Valencia also has the successful Valenbisi bike service, which is an inexpensive bike hire system with over 2500 bikes and more than 250 bike stations throughout the city. The city centre is very walkable, so many students walk or cycle.

THINGS TO DO IN VALENCIA
Valencia is one of the most visited cities in Spain with a diversity of attractions. Spend a few hours at L'Oceanogràfic Marine Park or the Palacio de la Exposición, visit the Valencia Bioparc, or enjoy an opera at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. If you are a sports fan, there is 'La Liga' football at the Estadio de Mestalla, and for the more energetic, enjoy a run or a cycle through the streets and parks of the city to see some of the famous landmarks, including La Lonja de la Seda and the Valencia Cathedral. For the less energetic, we recommend soaking up the sun on one of Valencia's beautiful beaches.
SHOPPING IN VALENCIA
Valencia is a well-known centre of fashion with great shopping. The main shopping areas for high street stores are on La Calle Colón, La Calle don Juan Austria and La Calle Jorge Juan. The city has a number of shopping malls and department stores, including Nuevo Centro, Aqua, El Saler and El Corte Inglés. Valencia also has several interesting and fun street markets, including the Mercado Central and El Rastro street market.
