Milan is serviced by 3 airports. Malpensa International Airport (MXP) is the largest and busiest, and is situated 25 miles north-west of the city centre. There are daily domestic and international flights, and the airport is connected with the city centre via the Malpensa Express train service. (TIP: the other two airports close to Milan are Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport (BGY) and Linate Airport (LIN).) If you are travelling by train or bus, Stazione Centrale, the main railway station, and the main long-distance bus station, located next to the Lampugnano Subway, are both located in the city centre.
GETTING AROUND MILAN
Public transport in Milan is excellent and is operated by Azienda Trasporti Milanesi (ATM). The transport network is extensive, servicing the city centre and surrounding suburbs. The main forms of transport include a mixture of bus, tram and trolley lines and a 4-line subway system, which runs from 6am until midnight. ATM also operate the 'Passante' suburban rail link, which is very popular with commuters. All public transport is clean and reliable and tickets are inexpensive.
