Munich is regarded as the most desirable German city to live in, and is famous for its wonderful Chistmas markets and the annual Oktoberfest!
HOW TO GET TO MUNICH
Munich Airport (MUC) is Germany's second largest airport and is located 18 miles north-east of the city. There are daily domestic, European and international flights, and there are regular bus and S-bahn train connections to and from the city centre. If you are travelling by train or bus, both Munich Central Train Station and the city's main bus station are located in the city centre. (TIP: The bus station for long distance journeys is located in Fröttmaning, on the north side of the city.)

Public transport in Munich is highly acclaimed. The Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV) operate the city's buses, trams, U-Bahn trains (underground) and S-Bahn trains (fast). All modes of transport are extensive, covering both the city centre and local suburbs. Tickets are inexpensive and there are a number of ticket options available depending on zones travelled and length of stay. Munich also has the Deutsche Bank 'Call a bike' service, which is an inexpensive bike hire system with bike stations throughout the city. Many students walk or cycle.
