Welcome to San Francisco, home of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. San Francisco is situated on the west coast of America, has a population of nearly 1 million and is one of the most visited cities in the world.

GETTING TO SAN FRANCISCO
San Francisco Airport (SFO) is 12 miles south of the city and there are daily domestic and international flights. To get from the airport into the city, there is a regular bus service, BART train (Bay Area Rapid Transport), or you can call one of the local taxi companies. If you are traveling by bus or train, the main stations are located in the city centre. (TIP: 2 other flight options are Oakland Airport (OAK) and San Jose (SJC).)

GETTING AROUND SAN FRANCISCO
San Francisco has excellent public transport that services most of the city. The San Francisco Municipal Railway, known as MUNI, operates the bus, cable car and metro services. Tickets are inexpensive and there is a range of ticket options available. San Francisco is one of the most walkable cities in America, so many students walk or cycle.
